There is no direct flight between Paris and Cambodia. The journey requires one stopover, in one of the major Asian or Middle Eastern hubs. Plan 14 to 17 hours of total travel depending on the routing.
Best air options from Paris:
Via Bangkok: Air France (Paris-Bangkok direct 11h) + Thai Airways or Bangkok Airways (Bangkok-Phnom Penh or Bangkok-Siem Reap 1h) in codeshare, 14h total. The fastest routing and often the cheapest (€800-1,200 return depending on season). Variant: Vietnam Airlines via Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh, Singapore Airlines via Singapore, Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong.
Via Doha: Qatar Airways (Paris-Doha 6h30 + Doha-Phnom Penh 8h30, total 16h with layover) — premium option, often competitive in promo (€900-1,300 return), service rated among the world's best. Good choice if starting at Phnom Penh.
Via Singapore: Singapore Airlines (Paris-Singapore 12h30 + Singapore-Phnom Penh or Siem Reap 2h) — 15-16h total, exceptional service quality, prices often above €1,000 return.
Via Dubai: Emirates (Paris-Dubai 7h + Dubai-Phnom Penh via Bangkok 8-9h) — 16-17h, competitive prices in low season.
Arrival airports: Phnom Penh International (PNH) for the capital (Air France code-share with Vietnam Airlines, Qatar Airways direct), Siem Reap-Angkor International (REP) — the airport was relocated in 2023 to 40 km from the city, plan USD 20-25 by taxi to the centre — handy to start directly with Angkor, Sihanoukville (KOS) for the south coast (few international flights, mainly regional Asian connections).
On arrival, present your printed e-visa or request your visa on arrival (USD 30 cash, 1 photo). Plan 15-30 minutes of queue in all cases. Official airport taxis to the centre cost USD 12-15 in Phnom Penh, USD 20-25 in Siem Reap (new airport further out), USD 10 in Sihanoukville. The Grab app works in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville — often cheaper (USD 8-12).
Inside the country, transport works as follows: buses between major cities (Phnom Penh-Siem Reap 6h, USD 10-15 with Giant Ibis or Mekong Express, VIP options with wifi/meals/reclining seats), domestic flights Cambodia Angkor Air or Lanmei Airlines (Phnom Penh-Siem Reap 45 min, USD 60-90 return), tuk-tuks for urban travel (USD 1-5 depending on distance, negotiate before departure), Grab taxis available in major cities. Scooter rental (USD 5-10/day) is common in Siem Reap to visit Angkor autonomously but discouraged in Phnom Penh (chaotic traffic). Main roads are good; secondary rural roads are in poor state, especially in the rainy season.
