Petite-Terre is discovered essentially on foot or by collective taxi. Here is the reference itinerary for 2-3 well-filled days.
Day 1 — Dzaoudzi: morning at Dzaoudzi Point and Dzaoudzi Rock. Walk in the streets of the old colonial centre, visit the vestiges, small Boueni beach. Lunch in a Creole restaurant of the port. Afternoon: exploration of the fishermen's quarter of Labattoir. Sunset from the Rock — an essential moment.
Day 2 — Lac Dziani and Moya: early departure (5:30-6am) for Lac Dziani before the heat. Complete tour of the crater via the 4 km panoramic trail (1h30 walk). Exceptional views at sunrise. Direction Moya beach for the morning: swimming, snorkelling (frequent turtles), lounging on the white sand. Lunch picnic or beach hut. In season (November-March), turtle nesting outing with RAEMA association in the evening (€15-25/person).
Day 3 — Free discovery: Pamandzi market (morning), visit of the former colonial forts, tastings with producers. If transfer to Grande-Terre: ferry from Dzaoudzi to Mamoudzou (15 min).
Additional activities: boat outings from Dzaoudzi port to M'Bouzi islet (marine reserve, exceptional snorkelling) or the S-pass (diving and cetacean watching in season).
