Marie-Galante shares the tropical climate of Guadeloupe, with two clearly marked seasons.
The dry season (December to April) is the ideal period: temperatures of 24-30 °C, sea at 26-27 °C, maximum sunshine, refreshing Caribbean trade winds. It's also the cane harvest season (February to June) — the distilleries operate at full capacity, visits are lively, the sweet smell of must floats over the island. Beaches remain surprisingly deserted even in peak tourist season — Marie-Galante is not (yet) on the mass tourism circuit.
May and June are remarkable for two reasons: the weather remains very favourable, and the Terre de Blues Festival (Pentecost weekend) transforms Capesterre into a Caribbean musical capital for 3 days. It's the unique opportunity to experience the island in its most vibrant moment — book flights and accommodation 4 to 6 months in advance.
The wet season (July to November) brings more frequent tropical showers, warm sea at 28 °C, the lowest prices and an even more authentic atmosphere. The hurricane risk peaks from August to October — stay attentive to Météo-France Antilles bulletins. The cane harvest is finished by June, the distilleries are in production pause (but shops and visits remain open).
