Les Saintes

When to go — Les Saintes

Les Saintes share the tropical climate of Guadeloupe, with two clearly marked seasons.

The dry season (December to April) is the perfect period: temperatures of 24-30 °C, sea at 26-27 °C, maximum sunshine, clear visibility from Fort Napoléon and Pain de Sucre. It's also the peak tourist season — cruises call at Terre-de-Haut several times a week (up to 2,000 visitors per day occasionally), saturating the village between 10 am and 4 pm. The workaround: either visit Les Saintes on a day trip but outside cruise call days (consult the port calendar in advance), or sleep on site to enjoy the morning calm and authentic evening atmosphere.

May and June make an excellent shoulder season: still very favourable weather, much smaller crowds, deserted beaches on weekdays, falling accommodation prices. The recommended period for those who want to combine good weather and tranquillity.

The wet season (July to November) brings more frequent tropical showers, warm sea at 28 °C, the lowest prices and an even more authentic atmosphere. Warning: maritime shuttles can be cancelled in case of rough seas or hurricane risk (August to October) — plan a margin in your itinerary. Diving remains excellent year-round thanks to the natural protection of the bay.
