The Isle of Pines is explored in 3-4 days around a few signature experiences.
Oro Natural Pool (absolute must-do, full day): from your hotel in Kuto or Kanuméra, transfer by car/taxi to Oro Bay (30 min), then 30 min walk through the columnar pine forest. Snorkelling, swimming, picnic (bring lunch). Come early (before 10 am).
Upi Bay traditional pirogue excursion (signature experience, half-day or day): departure from Saint-Joseph Bay aboard a traditional Kanak outrigger pirogue. Several formulas: Upi only (€60-90/person, half-day), Upi + walk to Oro (€90-130/person, full day with lunch — most complete formula), Upi + caves (€120-160/person).
Island tour by scooter (rental €30-50/day, 1 day): Kuto → Kanuméra → Vao → Queen Hortense caves → Oumagne caves → Saint-Joseph Bay → Oro Bay → Communards' Cemetery at Ouro.
Beaches and relaxation: Kuto and Kanuméra for swimming and photography. Pointe du Méridien for sunset.
Bottle diving: 2-3 clubs offer sites around the island (Récif Gadji to the north — manta rays, groupers, turtles). Rates: €70-110/dive.
Romantic beach dinner: organised by Le Méridien Île des Pins or Oure Tera Beach Resort (€200-400/couple).
