The Isle of Pines is small (18 km × 14 km) and easily covered. Several transport options:
Scooter rental (€30-50/day) is the most practical and economical means. Class B license sufficient. Several rental shops in Vao (administrative centre) and near hotels. Helmet mandatory.
Car rental (€50-80/day) is also possible but not essential given the small size of the island.
Taxis are available but few and expensive (€15-30/trip).
Hotel shuttles are organised by Le Méridien Île des Pins and Oure Tera Beach Resort for airport transfers (often included in the package).
Bicycle (rental €15-25/day) is a pleasant option but limited by distances.
The Isle of Pines Airport (IDP) is located in the centre of the island, 6 km from Vao and 8 km from Kuto beach. Small regional airport served by Air Calédonie (ATR flights from Nouméa-Magenta, 25 min). Return fares Nouméa-Isle of Pines: €100-150/person.
The Betico ferry arrival port is located in Kuto, directly near the hotels — practical.
