Frequently asked questions

Quand visiter ?+
Juin a octobre : saison seche, baleines a bosse (BEST). 23-28 °C, mer 26-28 °C, ciel degage. Novembre a mai : saison humide avec averses tropicales + cyclones possibles janvier-avril. Juillet-aout : pic touristique francais (vacances scolaires).
Quel budget ?+
Compter 1 500-2 500 €/personne : vol direct Paris-DZA A/R (700-1 300 €), 6 nuits hotels (Mamoudzou Concorde 80-150 €, Caribou 70-120 €, gite 40-80 €), repas (15-30 €/jour), excursions baleines + ilots Choizil + plantation (200-300 €), location voiture (250-400 €).

Our verdict

This 7-day itinerary is Mayotte's essentials: Mamoudzou + Petite-Terre + UNESCO lagoon + south Sazile + ylang-ylang plantation. Visit in June-October for dry season + humpback whales. Car ESSENTIAL. Budget €1,500-2,500/person. No visa, EUR, 11h direct flight - CHEAPER and more authentic alternative to Reunion. Mayotte = unknown French Indian Ocean island, lagoon among the world's largest, preserved Mahoré culture. For experienced divers, 10-14 days allows adding wild north-west (Mtsangabeach) or ferry to Anjouan (Comoros) - with visa.
