Caravelle Beach is the central experience. 1.5 km long, white sand, shallow turquoise lagoon (1-2 m deep over several hundred metres), coconut palms at the edge. The east part (free access) is family and popular; the west part is privatised by Club Med. Ideal for swimming, kayak (rental €10-15/hour), paddle (€15-20/hour), leisure. Avoid 11 am-3 pm in peak season (crowds), prefer early morning (magical sunrise) or late afternoon.
The Sainte-Anne village is discovered in 1-2 hours of strolling. The Sainte-Anne church (19th c., neo-classical style, white facade) is one of the most beautiful in Guadeloupe. The market square hosts a traditional market on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings — exotic fruits, spices, flowers, fish. The colourful lanes with Creole houses with corrugated iron roofs deserve a walk. Several seaside lolos (Le Touloulou, Chez Roger) serve excellent Creole cuisine at reasonable prices.
Bois Jolan Beach (3 km to the east) is the antithesis of Caravelle: wild, protected, golden sand, shallow turquoise water, few infrastructures. Classed natural site. Free parking, 5 min walk access from the road. Ideal for families seeking calm.
The Helleux Beach (5 km to the west) is more discreet, perfect for bodyboard and bodysurf enthusiasts (more marked waves).
The excursions from Sainte-Anne: Saint-François (20 min, marina, golf), Pointe des Châteaux (35 min, wild cliffs), Pointe-à-Pitre (30 min, Saint-Antoine market, ACTe Memorial), Le Moule (40 min, Damoiseau distillery). All accessible in the day by car.
