The dry season (November to April) is the ideal period for the Cambodian south coast. Perfect climate: 26-32°C, calm turquoise sea at 28-29°C, clear skies. Optimal conditions for the islands, snorkeling, Kampot-Kep visits, and observing bioluminescent plankton visible on moonless nights (ideally October to March).
December-February are the busiest and most expensive months. March-April offer an excellent compromise. The wet season (June to September) is to avoid for the south coast — south-westerly monsoon hitting the Gulf of Thailand directly, frequent rains, sometimes rough seas. Crossings to islands are regularly cancelled.
