Frequently asked questions

How many days do you need in Antalya?+
One week is ideal for a mixed beach-cultural stay. 3-4 days beaches (Konyaaltı, Lara) + Kaleiçi + Düden Waterfalls + archaeological museum. 2-3 days ancient site excursions (Aspendos half-day, Termessos half-day, Side full day with lunch and swimming, Phaselis for beaches among the ruins). With 10 days, add 2-3 days on the Lycian Coast (Olympos, Çıralı, Kaş).
Which Antalya neighbourhood to choose?+
__Kaleiçi__ (old town): ideal for culture and authenticity, charming boutique hotels (Tuvana Hotel €100-180/night, Mediterra Art €80-130), gastronomic restaurants, 10 min walk from Konyaaltı Beach. __Lara__ (east): 5-star all-inclusive resorts (Maxx Royal, Rixos Premium, Titanic Deluxe) at €150-400/night, fine sand beach, ideal for families. __Belek__ (35 km east): golf capital, high-end resorts. __Konyaaltı__: residential, accessible, urban beach 5 min walk.
How to get to Antalya from Paris?+
__Direct flights in summer__ (April-October) from Paris CDG/ORY (3h45, Sun Express, Corendon, Pegasus, €200-450 return). Outside summer, flights via Istanbul (1h15 stopover + 1h15 Istanbul-Antalya). AYT airport 13 km from centre — Havaş bus 30 min (€5), BiTaksi taxi 15 min (€15-25), free resort shuttle from all-inclusive hotels.
Are Aspendos and Termessos worth the detour?+
Yes absolutely. __Aspendos__ (40 km east, 45 min): __2nd c. AD Roman theatre, best preserved of the ancient world__ with 15,000 seats, exceptional acoustics, still used for operas in July-August (Aspendos Opera Festival). Entry 750 TRY (€23), half-day. __Termessos__ (30 km west, 45 min): ancient city perched at 1,050 m in Mount Güllük National Park, never conquered by Alexander the Great, ruins drowned in pine forest — one of Turkey's most moving sites. 1h access hike. Half-day.
What is the Lycian Way and can you do it from Antalya?+
The __Lycian Way__ (Likya Yolu) is a 540 km marked long-distance hiking trail between Fethiye and Antalya, ranked among the world's 10 most beautiful trails by the Sunday Times. From Antalya, recommended 3-7 day sections: __Olympos-Adrasan__ (3 days, moderate, deserted beaches), __Phaselis-Tekirova__ (2 days, easy, ancient sites), __Faralya-Kaş__ (5-6 days, demanding, spectacular Lycian Coast cliffs). Accommodation in pansiyon (€15-30/night half-board). Ideal season: April-May and September-November.

Our verdict

Antalya is the great gateway to the Turkish Riviera — the beach destination combining beach, historic old town (Kaleiçi), ancient sites and Taurus range backdrop. One week is ideal for a mixed stay: 3-4 days beaches (Konyaaltı, Lara) + Kaleiçi + Düden Waterfalls, 2-3 days ancient site excursions (Aspendos, Termessos, Phaselis, Side). Avoid July-August if seeking authenticity — the massive touristification and stifling heat can disappoint. Prefer May-June or September-October to combine warm sea, manageable crowds and reasonable prices. Stay in Kaleiçi (Tuvana Hotel, Mediterra Art) for an authentic experience, in Lara/Belek for 5-star all-inclusive resorts, or in Olympos/Çıralı (1h drive) for nature and authenticity.
