The Gustavia and south-west region is the urban and glamorous heart of Saint Barthélemy — that of the jet-set capital with megayachts and luxury boutiques, the legendary wild beaches (Gouverneur, Saline), and several of the island's best tables. For a 4-7 day stay in Saint Barth, it's the area to devote at least 2-3 days to.
The visit organises itself around three main poles: Gustavia (capital, megayachts, boutiques, restaurants), Shell Beach and surroundings (sunset at Shellona, aperitif), and the wild beaches of the south (Gouverneur and Saline). Each deserves one to two days depending on your style.
For a short stay (3 days), base yourself in Lurin or Anse des Flamands (10 min from Gustavia): day 1 Gustavia + Shell Beach, day 2 Gouverneur, day 3 Saline + Grand Cul-de-Sac. For 4-5 days, add the nord-Saint-Jean region (Anse des Cayes, Anse de Colombier).
