Things to do — Gustavia south-west

The Gustavia and south-west region is lived alternating cultural mornings, gastronomic lunches, beach afternoons and society evenings.

Gustavia is discovered ideally in the morning (9 am-12 pm, before heat and maximum animation). Park on the outskirts (free parking behind the marina). Stroll along the Marina quays — megayacht observation (50-150 m), souvenir photo in front of yacht flags. Visit the Wall House Museum (€8, 1h, island history and Swedish period). Climb to Fort Gustaf (15 min walk, free, 360° panorama). Visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral (centre, free). Shop at luxury boutiques (Hermès, Vuitton, Cartier, Chanel — open 10 am-1 pm and 4 pm-7 pm). Lunch at Bonito, Bagatelle or Le Repaire.

Shell Beach is the Saint Barth sunset meeting spot. Arrive in late afternoon (5 pm in high season), book a table at Shellona (Greek-Mediterranean restaurant, €80-150/person, the island's most iconic restaurant for aperitif) or settle on the sand (bring everything: no public service). Sunset around 6-6:30 pm.

Gouverneur beach is the most iconic south-west beach experience. Access by a small road from Gustavia (10 min by car, free parking). The beach is completely wild — bring umbrella, water, snacks, mask-snorkel. Plan 3-4 hours on site ideally in the morning (golden light, freshness). Saline beach is the other essential — 15 min from Gustavia, road access, then 10 min walk from the car park through the dunes. The L'Esprit Saline restaurant (gastronomic above, €120-180) is one of the island's best lunches.

Boat excursions from Gustavia: island tour by catamaran (€130-180/person, full day with snorkelling), excursion to Fourchue Islet (nature reserve, €60-90/person), diving__ with Splash, West Indies Dive, or Plongée Caraïbes (try-dive €80-110, exploration €70-95).

Land activities: hiking Morne de Lurin (200 m summit, panoramic view over Gustavia, 30 min trail), island tour by car (1h30 without stops), Creole cooking class (workshop at La Plage in Saint-Jean, €80-120), spa treatments in hotels (Cheval Blanc, Le Sereno).
