Loyalty Islands

When to go — Loyalty Islands

The Loyalty Islands follow New Caledonia's tropical-oceanic climate with a slightly warmer insular microclimate than Grande Terre.

The austral spring (September to November) is the best period: perfect temperatures (24-28 °C by day, 18-22 °C at night), low humidity, clear skies, calm seas. Air Calédonie flights are rarely disrupted and boat excursions take place in optimal conditions.

The austral winter (May to August) is also very pleasant: cool temperatures (22-26 °C by day), confirmed dry season, almost guaranteed clear skies. Ideal for bottle diving (30 m visibility).

The austral summer (December to April) brings heat, humidity, tropical rains and cyclone risk. Air Calédonie flights from Nouméa can be cancelled.

Best months: September, October, November.
