Reference budget in Fort-de-France: €90/day/person in accessible comfort mode. Accommodation is the most problematic item: few boutique hotels in city centre, predominance of standard business hotels (Squash Hôtel, Karibea Squash, Le Simon: €80-180/night depending on season) or independent rentals in residential heights (Didier, Schoelcher: €70-130/night for 2 people via AirBnb). The majority of travellers prefer to sleep in the South or North and come to Fort-de-France on day excursion.
Catering offers excellent value for money. Creole breakfast €6-10 (fresh bread, coconut jam, local coffee). Lunch in a city centre table d'hôtes €18-28 (starter + Creole dish + drink). La Savane lolos €10-15 per dish. Dinner in a correct restaurant €30-45 per person. Gastronomic restaurants (Le Vieux Foudre, La Cave à Vins) €50-75 per person excluding drinks.
Entry fees are modest: Fort Saint-Louis €8, archaeology museum €6, Dillon distillery free, Schoelcher Library free. Balata gardens €13.50 (excursion outside the city). Average budget €8-15/day for sites.
Local transport: Mozaïk urban bus €1.50 ticket, TCSP €1.50-2, Fort-de-France — Pointe du Bout maritime shuttle €4-6 one way. La Savane paid parking €1-2/h.
