The Colombier experience is lived in preserved nature mode. Prepare your day the day before: plan a backpack with water (minimum 2 l/person), snacks, foldable umbrella, personal mask-snorkel, fins (optional), factor 50 sunscreen, hat, walking shoes or sturdy flip-flops for the trail.
Access trail (30 min): free parking at Petite Anse, follow the markings. The trail offers panoramic views over the north coast, Fourchue islet and in the distance Saint Martin. Photo stops recommended. Easy to moderate level, accessible to adults in good condition (not to young children or reduced mobility).
On the beach: choose your spot (the beach is 300 m long, the north end is rockier and suitable for snorkelling, the centre is sandy for swimming). Exceptional snorkelling along the north rocks — observation of sea turtles (almost daily presence in the morning, low tide), stingrays, multicoloured fish (parrotfish, angelfish, sergeant major). Plan 1-2 hours of snorkelling.
For lunch, take out your picnic. Nap in the shade of the cacti or under your umbrella. Afternoon, swimming in the crystalline water. At end of day, ascent of the trail (around 4-5 pm to enjoy the golden light).
Boat excursion alternative: from Gustavia (Marine Service, Yannis Marine, BluBay) — half-day €60-90/person, full day €130-180 with on-board Creole lunch. Often combined with neighbouring Fourchue islet (nature reserve, exceptional snorkelling with Lesser Antillean iguanas, regular turtle presence). It's the iconic boat excursion from Saint Barth.
