El Nido organizes itself almost entirely around the archipelago, and the island-hopping tours are the headline activity. Each of the four official tours covers a different sector of Bacuit Bay and lasts a full day, with a packed lunch served on the boat. Tour A is the most famous: it opens at the Big Lagoon, an emerald body of water surrounded by sheer cliffs reachable only by kayak, then continues to the Small Lagoon, even more intimate, whose entrance you have to swim or kayak through a narrow opening in the rock. Secret Beach, accessed through a tight rock passage, reveals a white-sand cove hidden from view. The day often ends at Shimizu Island, on a coral reef perfect for snorkeling.
Tour C is the favorite of divers and snorkeling enthusiasts. Helicopter Island takes its name from its shape seen from above, and its waters shelter exceptional marine life: rays, sea turtles, parrotfish and colorful schools moving over coral in good condition. The Secret Lagoon, more discreet than the lagoons on Tour A, charms with its calm and lush vegetation. Tour B explores the less-frequented sites of the northern bay, while Tour D pushes toward more remote islands, ideal for travelers who want to put distance between themselves and the bigger groups.
Beyond the organized tours, Nacpan Beach deserves a full day. Its 4 kilometers of white sand lined with endless coconut palms, 45 minutes from El Nido by motorbike or tricycle, offer a striking contrast with the town's energy. A handful of small beach restaurants and hammocks under the trees turn the visit into a slow, decompressing day — particularly outside high season. Las Cabanas Beach, closer to town, is the favorite spot for sunset.
For independent divers, several clubs run trips around the archipelago, notably to the wrecks and coral walls of Dilumacad Island. Experienced kayakers can also explore parts of the bay outside the tour-only zones. In the evening, the El Nido seafront turns into a lively promenade: incandescent sunsets over the silhouetted islets, restaurants serving plates of freshly caught seafood, and the gentle atmosphere of a small tropical town that has kept its soul through its tourism boom.
