Andalusia rarely reveals itself on a single visit — it's a region that rewards return trips and resists being rushed. For a first trip (7-10 days), the classic Seville-Córdoba-Granada circuit remains the benchmark. Two days in Seville for the cathedral, the Alcázar and Triana; one day in Córdoba for the mosque and the flowered patios; two days in Granada for the Alhambra, the Albaicín and the free tapas tradition. Add half a day at Ronda for the Tajo gorge if time allows.

With more than two weeks, eastern Andalusia reveals its lesser-known treasures: Almería and its desert (spaghetti western film sets), Úbeda and Baeza (Iberian Renaissance, UNESCO), Jaén and its endless olive groves, and the Alpujarra villages clinging to the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada.
