Palawan lends itself to a wide range of itineraries depending on how much time you have, but they all revolve around the two anchor destinations: El Nido in the north and Coron in the northeast. Whatever the length of your trip, plan the transfers carefully — inter-island ferries depend on the weather and book out in high season.
For a long weekend (4–5 days), pick one of the two rather than try to do both. El Nido is the natural first choice: arrive on the direct flight from Manila to Lio Airport, dedicate two days to island-hopping Tours A and C (the famous Big and Small Lagoons, Seven Commandos Beach), and spend the last half-day on a quieter beach south of the village like Nacpan. Coron over the same period allows two wreck dives or a full Coron Island day taking in Kayangan Lake and Barracuda Lake, the postcard view of the region.
Over one week (7 days), the classic itinerary strings both together: three to four days at El Nido — island-hopping by day, village dinners by night — then the ferry to Coron (early morning departure, afternoon arrival), followed by two days at Coron split between the wrecks and the lakes. This combination covers the essentials of Palawan at a sustainable pace, without burning out.
With 10 to 15 days, the trip deepens significantly. After three days at El Nido and Bacuit Bay, drop south by van to Port Barton (2h30) for a quieter coastal interlude — two days are enough — then push on to Puerto Princesa for the UNESCO Subterranean River day trip before flying to Busuanga for three days in Coron. This routing covers Palawan from north to south, captures the full diversity of the province, and pairs the marquee highlights with a slower, less-visited middle section. Allow a buffer night in Manila on the return so you're not exposed to an early-morning international departure.
