Jerash is one of the most affordable sites in Jordan, reachable as a day trip from Amman on a modest total budget. Count around €60 per person per day for a comfortable excursion from Amman including transport, entry, shared guide and lunch.
Entry fees are modest: 10 JOD adult (€13) without Jordan Pass, free with Jordan Pass (recommended: 70-80 JOD depending on the version, i.e. €85-100, includes the visa and 40 major sites). Optional RACE re-enactments: 12 JOD (€15). Audioguide: 5 JOD (€6). Official qualified guide: 20-30 JOD (€25-40) for 2-3 hours, ideally shared among 4 people.
Transport from Amman can be arranged several ways. Private taxi return with waiting: 40-50 JOD (€50-65), ideal for 2-4 people. JETT bus from Tabarbour (Amman's north bus station): 8 JOD return (€10) — economical but requires planning around schedules. Organised guided tour from your hotel: €60-80 per person all-in (transport, guide, lunch). Rental car: €25-40 per day, the Amman-Jerash motorway is very simple, free parking at the entrance.
Food on site is limited. The café-restaurant inside the site sells sandwiches and shawarmas for 5-10 JOD (€6-13). The Lebanese House (between the ticket office and the modern town), a family institution since 1977, serves excellent traditional Lebanese mezze: 15-25 JOD per person (€20-32). It's the gastronomic stop of the day where most organised tours have lunch. Plan a minimum of 2 litres of water per person for the visit — refill points are rare on the site.
Accommodation in Jerash itself is underdeveloped — most visitors sleep in Amman and come on day trips. If you want to extend, the Olive Branch Resort 5 km from the site (rooms €60-90/night with pool and view over the hills) is a pleasant option to enjoy the site at opening and sunset without the crowds.
