Blue Lagoon

Things to do — Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon complex is organised around the main lagoon (37-40 °C, free access to all zones, 8,700 m², 1.5 m average depth, rocky bottom covered in white silica). Wander through all zones of the lagoon — each corner has its own temperature (warmer zones near the water inflow, more temperate zones at the periphery). Don't hesitate to apply the silica mask (white clay) included in all packages: leave on for 10-15 minutes then rinse in the water — your skin will be exceptionally soft.

The in-water bar serves cocktails (Brennivín & Co, €12-15), Icelandic beer (€8-10), fresh fruit juices (€6-8) and non-alcoholic drinks. Limited to 3 drinks per person (tracked by electronic chip bracelet) to preserve water quality. Drinking alcohol while in the hot water — a surprisingly relaxing experience.

The stone sauna (80-90 °C) and steam bath (45 °C, 100% humidity) are accessible at no extra cost. The waterfall outside the main lagoon projects a powerful current for shoulder and neck massage — short queue, 5 min maximum recommended.

Additional masks (algae mask for hydration, mineral mask for exfoliation) are available from the in-water clay bars, free in the Premium package, paid in Comfort (€8-12/mask).

The LAVA restaurant (booking recommended, open 11:30am-10pm) serves a gastronomic new Nordic menu with Icelandic produce (Höfn langoustine, lamb, skyr) in a spectacular setting at the foot of a black lava wall. 3 courses €90, 5 courses €130, 7 courses €170 excluding drinks. For a simpler lunch, the Blue Café offers sandwiches, salads and hot dishes for €18-28/person.

The Retreat Spa (reserved for Retreat at Blue Lagoon hotel guests or Signature day-pass packages at €300-500) offers a 6-step wellness circuit (massage, facial, private lagoon access) over 4 hours — luxurious experience but reserved for high budgets.
