Saving tips: shop at Bonus or Krónan (discount chains, recognisable by the pink pig for Bonus), get the Akureyri Card (24 h ISK 3,200 / €21, free access to pool + museum + buses), drink tap water (excellent).
Realistic total budget for 2 days at Akureyri: €250-400/person (mid-range lodging + meals + activities without domestic flight).
