Trinidad's cost of living is comparable to Viñales — around 15-20% below Havana for equivalent comfort. The baseline of €60 per person per day covers a casa particular with breakfast, two paladar meals, museum entries and a guided activity.
Casa particular accommodation runs €25-40 per night for a double room. The most sought-after casas (Casa Muñoz, Hostal Real del Jigüe, Casa Colonial Yolanda) occupy former colonial palaces with stunning patios — book 2-3 months ahead for high season. The Iberostar Grand Trinidad (5-star, Carrillo square) costs €200-300 a night for luxury with a pool.
Dining centres on the paladares (Sol Ananda, Esquina Vista Alegre, San José) — expect €15-25 per person for a full dinner with ropa vieja, langosta enchilada (Creole-style lobster, Trinidad's signature dish) and mojito. Dinner with your casa hosts (€8-12 per person) is often better than the paladares. Mojito at La Canchánchara (the iconic bar) €3-4, the canchánchara signature cocktail (rum, lemon, honey, water) €4-5.
Site entry fees are modest: Palacio Cantero €2, Palacio Brunet €2, Museo de Arqueología €2, tourist train €15-20, Ancón beach free (paid loungers). A day of activities runs €15-25 per person.
Local transport is mostly on foot in the centre. For Ancón: taxi €10-15 return with wait, or tourist bus €2 per ride. For Valle de los Ingenios: tourist train €15-20 or private taxi €30-40 for a half-day. For Topes de Collantes: organised excursion €30-40 with transport.
