Rovinj

Budget — Rovinj

Rovinj is one of Istria's most expensive destinations — close to Split prices, markedly cheaper than Dubrovnik. The baseline budget of €100/day/person covers a comfortable stay in an apartman inside the peninsula or 3* hotel on the outskirts, with a good dinner and a day trip.

Accommodation. Hostel (Hostel Rovinj Old Town): €30-50/night in a dorm. Apartman inside the peninsula: €100-180/night for two, often in historic buildings without lifts. Apartman on the outskirts: €60-100/night. 3* hotel at Punta Corrente (Hotel Eden): €130-200/night. 4-5* waterfront hotel (Hotel Adriatic, Hotel Lone, Monte Mulini, Grand Park Hotel): €250-600/night. Hotel inside the peninsula (Hotel Spirito Santo Palazzo, Hotel Angelo d'Oro): €200-400/night. Prices +60-80% in July-August vs May-June.

Dining is among the best in Croatia. Local konoba: €30-45 per person for a full meal with local wine. Restaurant inside the peninsula: €40-60 per person. Fine dining (Monte, Maistra, Wine Vault, Pier 50 by Mauro Štambol — Michelin-starred): €80-150 per person. Specialities: white truffles (Oct-Dec season, truffle menu €60-90), Lim Fjord oysters, whole grilled fish, homemade pasta (fuži, pljukanci), peka lamb, goat's cheese, malvasia white wines.

Entry fees are moderate. St Euphemia Basilica + bell tower: €5. Batana House: €4. Museum of Arts and Crafts: €5. Boat trip to the islands: €15-30 per person. Lim Fjord trip: €30-45 per person. Truffle hunt (Motovun): €80-120 per person. Olive oil cellar tasting: €15-30 per person.

Transport. City bus: €2. Pula airport → Rovinj: bus n°44 (45 minutes, €8) or taxi (€50-70, 35 minutes). Car hire (recommended for inland): €40-60/day. Old Town parking: impossible, use outer car parks (Valdibora, Stadium) at €1-2/h.
