Day 1 — East South Rim and Desert View Drive: Mather Point morning (iconic panoramic view, closest point to Visitor Center, spectacular sunrise 5:30am summer / 6:45am winter), Yavapai Point + Yavapai Geology Museum (interpreted panorama, free canyon geology exhibition, understand 2 billion-year stratigraphy), Yavapai Lodge cafeteria lunch or picnic. Afternoon Desert View Drive (35 km east, panoramic road with viewpoints spaced every 3-5 km — Grand View Point, Moran Point, Lipan Point — Colorado/Little Colorado confluence view, free Tusayan Ruin & Museum 800-year Ancestral Puebloan ruins, Desert View Watchtower Mary Colter 1932 Native American 21 m architecture, easternmost viewpoint with Painted Desert and Marble Canyon view). Hopi Point sunset (most popular for 270° panorama) or Hermits Rest (quieter, end of Hermits Rest Road). Day 2 — Hike + Hermits Rest Road: morning Bright Angel Trail hike — most iconic trail, progressive zigzag descent, departure Bright Angel Trailhead near Bright Angel Lodge. Bring minimum 4L water per person, salty snacks, hat, sunscreen, fleece (cold temperatures at top). Yavapai Lodge or Bright Angel Restaurant lunch.
