Main Seljalandsfoss waterfall (free, parking €4.50). Photograph from the viewpoint facing the waterfall for the classic panoramic view. Count 15-20 min on site.
Circular walk-behind trail (April to October, closed in winter). 200 m loop walk that places the visitor behind the water curtain. Waterproof mandatory, waterproof shoes strongly recommended. Heavy spray. Count 20-30 min for the complete loop with photo stops. This is the site's flagship experience.
Gljúfrabúi (hidden waterfall 600 m north, free). Walk 10 min on the left trail from the Seljalandsfoss car park. Then enter the rocky fissure by walking in the bed of the small river (water up to mid-calf, wet feet guaranteed). Inside, waterfall spurting in a 30 m high natural cave, illuminated by a beam of light. 30 min on site, magical experience.
Trail to upstream sources (for experienced hikers). Possibility to follow the Seljalandsá river upstream toward the sources, half-day to full-day hike depending on pace. Unmarked trail, intermediate level. Allows observing the waterfall from the top.
Photography: for the iconic photo, position yourself at the viewpoint facing the waterfall in late afternoon (south-west light). For rainbows, wait for low sun rays with heavy spray (early morning or late afternoon). The walk-behind trail offers a world-unique perspective — definitely protect your gear.
