By car recommended for those who want to enjoy Grand Canyon more than a day. 430 km via I-40 + AZ-64, 4-4h30 drive. South Rim accessible year-round. Stay at Tusayan (entrance, $100-200/night motels) or inside the park (El Tovar Hotel $280-450, 6-month booking). By helicopter from Las Vegas: excursion $250-450/person half-day (3-4h round trip, landing Bottom of the Canyon with champagne or West Rim Skywalk + Hoover Dam flyover), unforgettable experience but very short visit (1-2h on site). In winter (November-March), many parks are closed or very limited. Year-round accessible: Grand Canyon South Rim (Arizona, magical snowy landscapes, reduced crowds, 5-15°C daytime but -5 to 0 at night), Death Valley (California, perfect 15-22°C vs 50°C in summer, rare crowds), Joshua Tree (California, pleasant desert 15-20°C), Zion (Utah, 8-15°C, possible snow), Bryce Canyon (Utah, magical under snow, 0-10°C daytime, plan crampons), Saguaro (Arizona, spring desert), Big Bend (Texas, perfect in winter), Everglades (Florida, ideal dry season).
